New & Existing Dwellings Course Details
Our QQI 6N0732 course is a 6 day programme, delivered in two modules.
Module 1 (4 Days) - The DEAP methodology and the assessment of existing dwellings
Module 2 (2 Days) - The assessment of new dwellings, Part L compliance and inputting renewables
Assignments (50%)
Learners must demonstrate their understanding of building construction and lighting assessment, building energy performance fabric & ventilation systems and space & hot water heating systems and their application of the BER software. The assignments will cover the application of DEAP to a variety of dwelling types of varying complexity, both new and existing. The 4 assignments are:
- Assignment 1 (5%) – U Values, sourcing thermal conductivity information
- Assignment 2 (15%) – plans and specifications and achieving Part L compliance
- Assignment 3 (15%) – surveying an existing dwelling (trainer selected dwelling) and completing a BER and Advisory Report
- Assignment 4 (15%) – surveying an existing dwelling (student selected dwelling) and completing a BER and Advisory Report
Examination (50%)
Learners must also complete a 3 hour exam that covers all units of the programme. The examination will also include a practical exercise of producing a BER label and Advisory Report for an unseen dwelling. The examination comprises:
- Short answer questions (10%) – 10 short questions
- Practical examination (40%) – produce a BER for an unseen dwelling and achieve a specified improvement
