Evidence of Upgrade works:

Technical Assessment (Heat Pumps Grants Only)
We are registered as Technical Advisors with SEAI to assist with heat pump grant applications. SEAI wants to ensure that heat pumps are only retrofitted in homes where heat loss is equivalent to a new home built in 2005, so that the heat pump will perform satisfactorily. The level of heat loss is specifically measured in the BER software and this value is called the Heat Loss Indicator (HLI). The HLI is required to be less than or equal to 2 W/Km2 in order to qualify for the heat pump grant
To enable us prepare a technical assessment fee proposal, please contact us and advise:
- Does your house have a current BER cert?
- What year was the house built originally?
- Were energy retrofit works done at any stage. If yes, is formal technical evidence available on the works done?
- Has the house been extended? If so, when? If you have drawings, please send on.
- Or, are you planning to extend now? If so, please send plan and elevation drawings (pdfs)

BER for New Dwellings
Technical Guidance Document L – Conservation of Fuel and Energy – Dwellings (2022) sets out the minimum energy performance requirements for new dwellings.
We recommend to our clients that a BER assessment be carried out early in the design process to ensure that the dwelling design complies with TGD Part L. A final site survey post completion of works must be carried to produce the final BER certificate and confirm compliance targets are met.
Fees for this service will depend on the size and shape of the house(s) or apartments.
