Creating automated and customized Building Renovation Passports as an effective tool to drive deep renovation
The building sector has a crucial role in achieving the target of EU’s
climate neutrality by 2050, being responsible for more than one third of
the EU’s energy related GHG emissions. The upcoming recast of the
EPBD is part of a comprehensive policy package to enable action to
meet this ambition, but despite the existing broad consensus on the
relevance of building renovation, the current renovation rate remains at 0.2%.
The aim of OneClickRENO is to contribute to the transition towards a
zero-emission building stock by using Building Renovation Passports
(BRPs) to accelerate the volume and depth of building renovations in the EU.
BRPs will make the benefits of deep renovations both visible and
tangible and will aim to stimulate cost-effective renovation through
long-term staged renovation roadmap for a specific building.
BRPs will thus assist owners and investors plan the best timing and scope for interventions.
OneClickRENO will provide different stakeholders in the renovation
value chain with automatically generated and customisable BRPs as an
effective and essential tool to drive deep renovation in the EU.
This will be provided;
- By means of a GIS based web environment
- By enabling different existing EPC/ energy calculators/ energyrenovation design tools access to the BRPs generation according to a building location and a user profile

The Homeowners will be provided with automated, relatable and easy to understand BRPs through simple (one-click) web tools whose overage and reliability will be based on the official BER methodology, data sources and user contributed data. The renovation roadmaps selected by users will, in time, help policy makers design and develop follow-up policies.
Energy renovation professionals in charge of BER process, will also be able to deliver to their customers a real renovation plan through the same OneClickRENO web tool.

Pilot projects will take place across Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Italy, focusing on both residential and commercial buildings from the second half of the 20th century.
IHER Energy Services and Gamma Location Labs are leading the Irish pilot.
